Il singolo è contraddistinto da un sound ipnotico funk, pop rock marchio di fabbrica dei RHCP e un testo quasi shamanico che inneggia, come il titolo stesso suggerisce, alla danza della pioggia. The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie è il primo singolo suonato insieme alla new entry della band Josh Klinghoffer che ha preso il posto del chitarrista John Frusciante che è nuovamente uscito dal gruppo.
Il video si svolge a Venice Beach, in California, e vede i componenti della band impegnati a suonare su una terrazza il 30 luglio 2011 alle 18:33 del pomeriggio. In basso per la strada e dai balconi vicini, invece, si concentra la gente che si lascia coinvolgere dal sound coinvolgente del brano.
