Dopo averli ascoltati assieme a Nelly Furtado per tutta l'estate con il tormentone “Hot n Fun”, i N.e.r.d. si godono finalmente un po' di notorietà. Il loro quarto album, “Nothing”, è stato un vero e proprio successone.
Nonostante ciò, i tempi erano maturi per rilasciare un secondo singolo (stavolta direi molto più ricercato del primo), “Hypnotize U”, di cui vediamo il video musicale youtube, è un brano per cui il trio americano si è avvalso della collaborazione del duo francese Daft Punk, co-produttori del brano nonché fenomeni della musica elettronica, che hanno avuto l'apice del successo a cavallo tra la fine degli anni 90 e l'inizio degli anni 2000 (tra i loro brani migliori sicuramente “Around The world” e “ Harder, Faster, Bigger, Stronger”).“Hypnotize U” è un singolo che varia completamente nello stile rispetto al suo predecessore, avendo un ritmo meno incalzante, atmosfere più cupe e massiccio utilizzo dell'elettronica, in un background dove si sente chiaramente la mano dei Daft Punk.
Un'altra novità rispetto a “Hot n Fun” è l'uso del falsetto da parte del cantante Pharrell Williams, che vivacizza molto bene tutto l'insieme delle sonorità presenti in questa canzone.
I N.e.r.d sono ritornati sulla cresta dell'onda dopo 6 anni di anonimato e per loro è una bella soddisfazione.
Dopotutto, come dice l'acronimo del loro nome, funziona così un po' per tutti: “No-one Ever Really Dies”, mai nessuno muore veramente.
